How we raise and harvest our 100% grass-fed lamb
Our lambs are born in late March, and raised on their mom's milk, hay, and pasture. We utilize intensive rotational grazing to keep our pastures and our sheep healthy. Socks Family Farm lamb is harvested at 8-9 months, when the animals weigh about 80 pounds. We do on-farm slaughter to minimize stress to animals, and provide the most humane experience possible.
How we use our lamb
Our family loves ground lamb for burgers, tacos, meatballs, and bolognese sauce. For special occasions, we cut boneless loin into medallions, sear it briefly on a very hot skillet, and serve it rare with potatoes and salad from our gardens. Delicious! We save all the bones for our farm dog, which she loves. We process the tallow into soap, and send the hides to be tanned into beautiful sheepskins.
