Planning:
Planning saves time and money, and helps you succeed!
We can help you define your personal framework, and work with it. Considerations include budget, time constraints (including time away), physical limits, and existing equipment, infrastructure, and plantings.
- Is it expensive to have a garden?
- How big should I make my garden?
- Where should it go?
- How much time will it take?
- Will my back problems prevent me from gardening?

We can help! We offer guidance on preparing garden space, selecting varieties, seed starting, transplanting, fencing, greenhouses, raised beds, trellises and other vertical supports, watering systems, weed control, pest and disease management, fertilizing, pruning, harvest, root cellaring, canning/freezing/drying.

Livestock:
Raising livestock is fun and rewarding, but without good planning, it can be a major headache...poorly managed animals can make a mess of your property, or your neighbor's. We can offer guidance on choosing animals, building shelters, predator protection, fencing, feeding, basic veterinary skills, pasture management, slaughter, and butchering.
- I'd love some animals...what do I need to know?
- We used to have chickens, but they all vanished; should I try again?
- Should I hire a professional to slaughter and butcher livestock?

Ornamental gardens:
Selecting and preparing garden space, selecting varieties (including edible landscaping, and native plants), working with what you already have (dividing & transplanting, plant swaps), planning for watering & weeding, keeping 4 season interest, containers.
- I'd like some perennials, but how can I do it on a budget?
- The plants I bought last year died already, why?
- Do I have to break up a lot of sod to make a garden?

Landscaping:
Landscaping plays a huge part in your relationship to your property. It's important to have places that invite sitting and lingering. These same places can be great for pollinators and other wildlife. We can help you plan decks, seating areas, garden locations, and native plants for ground cover, hedges, and shade trees. And don't underestimate paths...a nice walk from one space to another encourages more time outdoors.
- I'd like to have more pollinator habitat, what should I plant?
- How can I make a garden that's easy to care for?
- What makes an inviting space to sit and enjoy the landscape?
- I like the idea of native plants, but are there any that look good?
- How can I help the land be more resilient and diverse?
